Now that I have been very positive and upbeat for a few days, I have to blog a bit more negatively for a moment. Yesterday, while clicking around on the Internet, I came across this man...
Dennis "I am a total moronic jerk" Leary. For anyone who did not hear or see it already, this is why I must post his ugly mug on my blog...He said this...
"There is a huge boom in autism right now because inattentive mothers and competitive dads want an explanation for why their dumb-*** kids can't compete academically, so they throw money into the happy laps of shrinks . . . to get back diagnoses that help explain away the deficiencies of their junior morons. I don't give a [bleep] what these crackerjack whack jobs tell you - yer kid is NOT autistic. He's just stupid. Or lazy. Or both."
I refuse to lower myself to his level and bash his name like I so want to do. But I will say this, it is people like him that make life difficult for my son and every other child or person that suffers with Autism. He obviously had not had the fortunate opportunity to meet and get to know an Autistic person. They have difficulty understanding the world around them yet they are more compassionate and non-judgemental than even this ignorant man! Apparently, he was making the comment to be funny, but I am sure that no one finds it funny. I, myself, find it utterly disgusting! It is distasteful, moronic, ignorant, cruel and stereotypical! I am so angry that I just want to say terrible things about this person. But I said I wouldn't lower myself for him. I will just allow my wonderful, intelligent, compassionate, caring bloggy friends to rip him apart themselves.

I know...he is just ignorant!
I just love celebs who preach about whatever like the rest of us care what they think or are stupid enought to believe them just because they are on TV.
The reason they are actors are because they are such great liars!
That is what acting is after all!
People pretending to be someone they really are not.
I wish celebs would just shut their pie holes and realize we don't care what their opinions are(unfortunately too many do)
I can't believe he said that! He must die.....i jest.....
I can understand partially where that rant comes from. I am a special education teacher and have seen what some parents will do. I think it is one of those cases that maybe you should think before you speak.
I just read your story about Zach, and while my kids aren't autistic (my nephew is) my first daughter has some of the problems you describe.
She had RSV at six weeks. She had night terrors. And she has major anger issues. It isn't easy, is it?
Wow! I repeat, WOW!
What an ass!
Wow, what a bold statement he made.
Denis Leary is yet another example of why we need to continue to educate, and positively improve mainstream social attitudes. After all, doesn't everyone want to feel included, deserving, equal, appreciated and loved?
The fact is, Denis Leary's attitude (and others like him) is unacceptable. Thank you for speaking out on behalf of all autistic children and their families.
Geez, I'm appalled at Leary's rant. Even for a comic/actor who makes a point of going for shock value and attacking sensitive subjects just to stir things up and get attention (paging the Catholic Church), this is waaay out of bounds and uncalled for. Sheesh, what a disappointment.
BTW, thanks for stopping by my blog and becoming a follower - I really appreciate that. I look forward to reading more of your posts!
Take care...

I hope the creep's career never recovers!!! Why is it that "celebrities" think we care about what they think about anything, anyway??
Jenny McCarthy is wiping the floor with him - publicly!
Ignorance is pretty sad huh?? Big hugs!
