I just thought I would share this with you guys...
Last week at Boy Scouts, Logan's group had a visit from a health professional. He was there to explain some life saving techniques to the kids. In an attempt to teach them some danger signs of the most common issues with the elderly, he began faking some of the signs and allowing the kids to guess what was wrong.
It went something like this...
"OK guys, if your grandparent starts breathing funny and grabs at their heart, what would you think was wrong?"
"A heart attack", shouts one boy.
"Correct!" acknowledges the instructor.
"What if your grandparent is eating dinner and all of a sudden they grab their throat and their face starts turning red?"
"He didn't like the food?" guesses one wiseguy scout. "No! It means that he is choking!" chimes in the "know-it-all" scout.
"Correct!" "And do you know what to do if someone is choking...anyone?" "It is called the Heimlich maneuver and it goes like this....
After a brief demonstration the conversation continues...
"OK...what does it mean if your grandparent all of a sudden loses the use of their arm or leg and can't remember what is going on?" (*he is describing a stroke)
"It means they have old-timers!" guesses one scout. "NO!" chimes in the that same know-it-all scout..."It means he is having a senior moment!" "My grandpa has them all of the time!"
I wish you could have seen the look on his grandpa's face! Too funny! I guess the kids listen to more than you think they do!
Hope everyone has a great day!
